Fresh Graduate, Be Different

You are able to write a resume, well everyone does. But what else? What stands out from your resume to others as a fresh gradudate. If you browse through the internet today, you will get free online guide to writing a resume. Most of them have own formats perhaps, however what I wanted to stress here is the content.

In my work, I have seen thousands of resumes & not much resumes have clean & tidy format & there tend to be a lot of redundant info. Resumes are either too lengthy/short.

Resumes should be viewed as an essence for fresh graduates in getting a job interview. Too much/few info will make you loose the golden opportunity. Of course, the content must be interesting as well. Keep it simple, clean yet with relevant information.

-Education
-Final Year Project
-Internship/Training
-Co-curicular activities
-Strength, Language
-Expected salary

Final Year Project & Internship - The most important part in fresh graduate's resume as these are the items that add to your value. What you do isn't that important unless it is relevant to the job that you applied. However how do you it, how you solve challenges/problems & what you learnt during the process will eventually show your attitude & personality. This will be used to judge whether you can adapt / suit to the company culture / working environment.

Activities - Do not stress too much on activities unless if you are a team leader / a member of an important event. If you are a member to a club / society, only add these in if your resume is too short.

Strength -

You must also be / act the person that you write in your resume especially in personal strength & language skills. You must be able to talk who you are & give examples that you posses the strength.

Language - Be humble when you write the scale for proficiency for Language. Even if you can speak very good English, do write a scale of 9 instead of 10. This will do you good if you come across foreigners as interviewer or interviewer who can speak better than you. Also write the scale which is within your capability.

Expected salary - If you do not know the salary range for fresh graduates, do approach friends/seniors/relatives or even search through local job portals for guide.
